Jul 09 Barry gets certified - he is the business!

It has been a proud day at Bowater Toyota as our parts advisor Barry Roach received his National Certificate in Business.

This NZQA recognised certification is the culmination of a years hard work, both here at Bowater Toyota, and also in his own time. We actively support our staff to up skill themselves at every opportunity, and in Barry's case the benefits from his Certificate in Business have been put to good use from the moment he began study. 

The course covered a wide subject base of all things business, from business strategy through to front line customer interface techniques, commercial agreement negotiations, dispute resolution and staff management. All of these skills will help us, and also Barry, as he continues to do a great job as parts advisor here at Bowater Toyota in Nelson.

 Barry has worked long and hard to get this National Certificate in business through MITO (Motor Industry Training Organisation), with online courses, in-work study and courses he has had to travel to Christchurch to attend. On top of all of that has been hours and hours of home work.
Barry applied to Toyota NZ for a scholarship to achieve the qualification, and was lucky enough to pick up one of a handful of scholarships on offer to Toyota staff nationwide.
Bowater Toyota have paid for Barry to travel to his out of town courses, and have supported him during his study with advice and mentoring. This is all part of the in work self education policy we have as we believe it enables us to deliver more to our customers.

All in all it is a great moment when one of the team gets acknowledged in such a fashion, and a proud moment to be able to share it with the wider community.

At times Bowater Toyota is a crazy place to work, with high demands on front line staff.
